Leeds United fans have reacted on Twitter to Rodrigo confirming on Instagram that he has taken the number ’19’ for the forthcoming Premier League season.
The 30-year-old donned the number 20 shirt last season, but after Pablo Hernandez’s departure, it opened the door for him to take his number.
That was Rodrigo’s number at his previous club and Leeds fans made it clear that he has ‘big shoes to fill’.
One Leeds fan even suggested that with Rodrigo’s old number now vacant that could allow a certain reported target in, Junior Firpo, take his number.
But, of course, the Barcelona star, who is seemingly closing on a move to Elland Road, needs to arrive in Yorkshire first before any of that can happen.
Either way, a pretty exciting season awaits Leeds supporters, even though they had to part ways with some popular figures last season.
Gaetano Berardi and Hernandez all left, as they will, no doubt, leave a big hole in the Elland Road dressing room.
But all of this is Leeds’ path back to European football and continuing this journey Marcelo Bielsa is taking the club on.
If Leeds are to get into Europe then, given that Bielsa likes to play with a small squad, the large majority of them have to stay out of the treatment room.
That includes Rodrigo, who did spend a significant amount of time on the sidelines during the previous campaign.
Nonetheless, here is a selection of Leeds fans reacting to Rodrigo’s Instagram post about changing numbers:
