West Bromwich Albion prodigy Nick Clayton-Phillips has taken to Twitter with his post-match assessment following the Baggies Under-23s’ 3-1 win over their Fulham counterparts in the Premier League 2 second division.

Albion legend Michael Appleton grabbed his first three points since taking charge of the Baggies’ U23s thanks to a solid display from his charges at Motspur Park, during which Clayton-Phillips scored a stunner.

West Brom claimed an early lead against the Cottagers through Rayhaan Tulloch, before Clayton-Phillips doubled their advantage when he bore down on goal and let rip with a fine curling effort from outside the box.

Although Fulham halved the deficit through Josh Onomah’s deflected free kick, West Brom restored their two-goal advantage when Jamie Soule struck with under 10 minutes remaining, capping off a fine display for WBA.

Clayton-Phillips praised the team first and foremost, before adding that he was happy to get on the scoresheet, and finally looked ahead to the upcoming PL2 clash with Sunderland’s U23s at The Hawthorns this Friday.

The 19-year-old’s tweet got a positive response by the West Brom fanbase and some supporters congratulated him for his display and comments:

Clayton-Phillips spent the latter stages of the 2018-19 season on loan at Vanarama National League North side Kidderminster Harriers, having featured regularly in the Premier League 2 team during the last few seasons (West Brom website), and it’s safe to say the future looks very bright for the young midfielder.
