Following the news that Claudio Yacob has signed a new two-year contract at West Bromwich Albion, Baggies fans can breathe a sigh of relief as yet another vital player commits the next few years to the club.

With the option of a further 12-month extension in the summer of 2018, Yacob looks like adding plenty more appearances to the 130 he has already made for the club, and considering he will be 32 if that is activated, he is on course to go down as an all-time great at the club.

He would certainly deserve to, with players like Yacob vital and yet so often overlooked by pundits and neutrals alike.

West Brom fans know exactly how important the Argentine is to their team and his ability to break up the play, set attacks in motion and protect his back-line mean he remains vital for his manager Tony Pulis.

Some players are superstars, generating headlines left, right and centre, but sometimes the most important are silent heroes; those who go about their business quietly, calmly and effectively.

Yacob is one of those players, and West Brom fans know they are watching someone who will one day be regarded as a Hawthorns legend.
