The former Leicester City boss had been linked with a move to Leeds United.

As reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, the agent of Italian manager Claudio Ranieri has quashed claims his client could be set to arrive at Leeds United this summer.

The Whites are looking for a new boss after the shock resignation of Garry Monk last month, and the man who guided Leicester City to the unlikeliest of Premier League titles had been tipped to take charge.

However, as reported by the YEP, Ranieri’s agent Steve Kutner said there is “no truth to the rumours”.

It comes as another blow to those Leeds fans who were hoping for an exciting and, more importantly, sensible appointment after years of uncertainty at the club.

Monk appeared to have brought a level of calm and consistency to Elland Road, and despite falling in their promotion push this season things looked positive ahead of the new campaign.

That was quickly replaced by confusion followed by a sense of weary resignation among fans as new Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani set about finding a replacement for the former Swansea City boss.

Big names have already been touted but for now the club remains on the look-out with interviews taking place this week.

With the right signings this summer Leeds could go one better in 2018 and finish in the top six. But before they can do that they need a manager at the helm who understands the club’s ethos and who is willing to stick around for more than just 12 months.
