Claudio Ranieri is currently one of the front-runners to land the Leeds United manager’s job.

Claudio Ranieri has been linked with the Leeds United’s manager’s job in recent weeks (Yorkshire Evening Post), and he may be more bemused than most by what has happened to the Elland Road club in recent times.

When Ranieri first arrived in England, to manage Chelsea, he was used to Leeds being a team to fear.

And, it was only in 2002, that he stated he was shocked that Leeds were not challenging for the title in the Premier League.

“I can’t understand what’s happened, I’m sure they’ll come back,” Ranieri said to the Guardian, with Leeds languishing in mid-table in the top flight.

Of course, things have got far worse at Leeds and Ranieri’s prediction that the Whites would come back never came true.

Leeds, instead, dropped out of the Premier League in 2004 and they have never returned.

The task for Ranieri, therefore, would be simple if he is to get the Leeds job – get them back in the Premier League.

The Whites are determined to return to the top flight, and Ranieri clearly feels that is where they belong.

Leeds finished in seventh place this season – one place away from the play off spots.
