Andrea Radrizzani said last year that he wanted Claudio Ranieri as the head coach of Leeds United.
Back in February 2018, Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani suggested that he wanted to appoint Claudio Ranieri as the first-team head coach.
Radrizzani made the revelation following his decision to appoint Paul Heckingbottom as Thomas Christiansen’s replacement as the Leeds boss.
The Italian businessman told Sky Sports: “We needed to have a coach with personality. For a moment I thought maybe I want someone with more experience, more seasons behind him, someone like a [Claudio] Ranieri kind of manager, but he’s obviously busy in France.”
Ranieri was in charge of Nantes in France at the time, and since then the Italian tactician has been at Fulham in England and is now at Italian club Roma.
The former Leicester City manager, though, is now available this summer, as he recently revealed that he will leave Roma at the end of the season, as quoted on Goal.com.
Marcelo Bielsa has done a wonderful job at Leeds and is hugely popular among the Elland Road faithful, and fans of the West Yorkshire outfit will love him to stay for the 2019-20 campaign.
However, with the Whites having failed to clinch promotion to the Premier League, there are doubts on whether the Argentine boss will be at the club next season.
If Bielsa and Leeds do part company, then club chairman Radrizzani will have the chance to appoint Ranieri, who will be free this summer.
