The winger could have a major part to play for Leicester under their new manager
Demarai Gray has shown some tantalising glimpses of his undoubted ability since joining Leicester City from Birmingham City in January 2016, but the winger has struggled to perform with consistency and was often unable to command a regular place in the starting lineup under Craig Shakespeare.
However, with Shakespeare gone and Claude Puel now in charge, Gray has a chance to get his Leicester career back on track and fulfil his vast potential.
Gray possesses pace and trickery in abundance and at his best is an extremely difficult proposition for opposing defences to deal with.
The 21-year-old was excellent in Puel’s first game in charge as he scored and produced an encouraging all round performance in Leicester’s 2-0 victory over Everton.
Although Gray was unable to get on the scoresheet in the subsequent 2-2 draw with Stoke City, it is clear that Shakespeare has much faith in him.
Gray will hope to start when Leicester host league leaders Manchester City on Saturday and such a high profile occasion will be an ideal opportunity for him to prove that he can thrive on the big stage.
In addition, Gray has been representing England U21s during the international break and was selected to train with Gareth Southgate’s senior squad last week.
If he continues to develop under the guidance of Puel at Leicester then Gray could well make his senior debut for England in the near future.
