Gary Lineker labelled Tottenham supporters as ‘classy’ on Twitter after they gave Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka an ovation on Sunday.

Spurs hosted their North London rivals in a pre-season friendly at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

This was Saka’s first game back to action since being on duty at Euro 2020, which involved the Arsenal academy product being racially abused after the tournament when he missed the decisive penalty kick that helped Italy become champions.

It needs to be remembered there were no away fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, so the home supporters provided Saka with a warm welcome as he came onto the pitch as a substitute.

This was Lineker’s reaction to the footage on Twitter, whilst Celtic keeper Joe Hart added the word ‘class’ when the same clip was relayed on Instagram.

At the end of the game, it was Spurs who walked away with the win in the pre-season friendly, albeit it was a friendly game on paper only.

Whilst there has been a lot of talk about what’s going on at Tottenham off the field of play, Nuno Espirito Santo is having a strong start to life at the club on the pitch and in the transfer market.

The team are looking stronger by each game in pre-season and they were also able to show off their latest recruit – Cristian Romero – before yesterday’s match.

As for Mikel Arteta, these are worrying times for the Spanish coach, who might not be in a job if he starts off the Premier League campaign in a poor fashion.

Added with that, he’s not exactly being helped in the summer transfer market, with no goalkeeper, creative midfielder or right-back in sight.
