Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris both earned praise on social media for their actions after full-time last night.
Tottenham ran out 3-2 winners over Vitesse in the Conference League in what was a pulsating encounter.
What’s the story?
The excitement all seemed to be too much for one young Spurs fan, who ran on the pitch to greet his heroes at full-time.
Stewards came chasing after the Spurs supporting kid, but Lloris and Kane both protected him from any consequences.
Tottenham’s skipper and vice-captain both shepherded the fan off the pitch, before giving him their shirts.
And Tottenham fans were very happy to see Kane and Lloris show such class.
Captain for a reason
Gestures like this just show why Lloris wears the captain’s armband.
He has spoken brilliantly in recent times and continues to be a brilliant ambassador for Tottenham.
While we can’t ever condone any supporter running on the pitch, Lloris and Kane made what could have been an awkward evening a very special one for a young fan.
And for two players of such standing in the game to show such care deserves a great credit.
Lloris’s performance in the game was also very strong.
The French goalkeeper was worked fairly regularly, but he produced some brilliant saves.
Kane, meanwhile, did seem to have more attacking support – but he still isn’t at top form.
The England captain has struggled for goals this term, and still seems to be searching for match sharpness, even after Conte’s arrival.
