Aston Villa got their first points on the board as Dean Smith’s side claimed a 2-0 win against Newcastle United over the weekend.

A phenomenal Danny Ings bicycle kick and a second-half Anwar El Ghazi penalty secured the win for Villa. After last week’s loss to Watford, it was a welcome response for the Midlands side.

The Birmingham-based club have had one of the busiest windows out of any side in the Premier League. The departure of Jack Grealish meant that the squad had to go undergo some major surgery.

And the incomings this summer have been impressive, with Ings already hitting two goals in his first two games for Villa whilst Leon Bailey and Emi Buendia could flourish under Smith’s management.

And it was the Argentine international who fans were really impressed with yesterday. After a shaky performance against Watford, Buendia looked more like the player Villa fans saw at Norwich last season.

The 24-year-old talent played some magical balls into the attack. And although Buendia didn’t register an assist for Villa against Newcastle, the playmaker did well on his home debut for the club.

And fans on social media saw a notable upgrade in his performance compared to last week’s showing at Vicarage Road. Buendia shone for Norwich in the Premier League two seasons ago.

Here’s what some Villa fans had to say about Buendia’s performance against Newcastle on Twitter…
