Greg Docherty scored goals for fun at Shrewsbury Town and he’s already scored his first pre-season goal for Scottish Premiership giants Rangers.

That loan spell at Shrewsbury Town could be the making of Greg Docherty.
It looked like the former Hamilton Academical midfielder’s short-lived Rangers career was over when he was loaned out to the League One outfit just weeks into Steven Gerrard’s reign in the summer of 2018. But if that spell at Shrewsbury was Docherty’s audition ahead of a potential return to Ibrox, he passed it with flying colours.
The power-packed enforcer produced 10 goals and 11 assists, with his hammer of a right foot the source of some truly stunning goals south of the border.

Docherty has since returned to Rangers and marked his first appearance for the club in over a year with a trademark long-range strike – the type of which Shrews fans know all about.
The Gers got their pre-season campaign up and running with a 2-0 win against Mansfield Town and the 22-year-old certainly took his chance to make a positive impression, fizzing a thunderbolt into the bottom corner from the edge of the box after debutant Sheyi Ojo had given Steven Gerrard’s side the lead.

And Rangers fans are expecting to see a lot more of this from a player who looks every inch like a whole new signing.
