It has only been two games but West Ham fans are already worried. The Hammers put in a shocking display against Newcastle United on the opening day and lost 2-0.
David Moyes’ side improved incredibly against Arsenal on Saturday, where they looked the better team at times. However, they still couldn’t manage a victory which has pushed them down to 16th place in the table.
The league table means nothing at this stage of the season, but West Ham need a lot of help. Grady Diangana’s sale angered many people associated with the club, including skipper Mark Noble. However, it has been claimed that he was sold to raise funds to sign a new defender.
West Ham are struggling to sign Tarkowski
The Irons are yet to make a new signing this summer. Moyes is clearly looking for a new centre-half and his priority target is Burnley’s James Tarkowski.
West Ham have failed with three bids already for the England international (Sky Sports). Burnley are standing firm at the moment, and it looks like the Hammers have a backup if they cannot lure Tarkowski in by the end of the window.
Gianluca Di Marzio claim that West Ham are interested in signing Daniele Rugani from Juventus. The Italian is out of favour in Turin and he has been linked with a move to the Premier League for quite some time now.
West Ham have just Angelo Ogbonna, Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena as their senior centre-halves. Injuries could become a common theme this season considering that the campaign is much shorter than usual.

That makes a new centre-half an absolute priority for the Irons before the transfer window ends in about two week. Rugani is a very interesting choice for the Hammers.
The 26-year-old was once tipped to be the next great Italian defender but he hasn’t quite lived up to all the hype. However, with lesser expectations and less pressure, a move to West Ham could prove to be a very good one for him this window.
Here is how a few West Ham fans reacted to the news:
