In 21-year-old Grady Diangana, The Hammers have one of the most influential forwards in England right now. The only problem is, he’s currently on loan at West Bromwich Albion rather than pulling up trees and embarrassing defenders under Manuel Pellegrini.
The Congo-born England U20 international certainly made an impression during 21 appearances for The Hammers during a breakthrough 2018/19 campaign but it’s at the Hawthorns where he is really starting to show how good he is.
With four goals and four assists to his name in just 10 starts, Diangana is proving himself to be a bonafide match-winner, at least at Championship level, with his Man of the Match performance in Monday’s 2-0 win at Stoke City increasing the clamour for a January re-call.
Diangana tied the Stoke defence in knots to set up Matt Phillips’ early opener before winning a second-half penalty as he was wiped out by Tottenham-owned Cameron Carter-Vickers. He was a constant menace throughout, skipping away from challenges and running the game from the wings.
On this form, it’s not hard to imagine Diangana starting and influencing games for West Ham in the very near future.
