Some Arsenal fans on social media have been reacting after it was reported that Barcelona and Juventus are in for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
What’s the story with Aubameyang?
According to The Athletic, the Gabon forward is reportedly the subject of two loan offers from Juventus and Barcelona.
The striker has been frozen out of the Arsenal squad, and there’s seemingly no way back for him under Mikel Arteta.
Arsenal are currently in discussions with the two interested parties about salary commitments and the length of the loan deals on offer.
It’s unknown at this point whether or not Aubameyang will go, but if he does, there will certainly be some unhappy Arsenal supporters.
Bad move
It’s easy to argue that this would be a bad move for Arsenal.
Yes, Aubameyang is currently out of the team, and yes, he’s been out of form for a little while, but let’s not forget, this is an incredibly talented footballer.
The fact that Barcelona and Juventus want him tells you all you need to know about how good he is, and Arsenal really don’t have much depth up top.
Eddie Nketiah could be on his way to Newcastle, while Folarin Balogun has already gone out on loan to Middlesbrough.
If Aubameyang goes, Arsenal will only have one senior recognised striker in their ranks, and if Alexandre Lacazette is injured, problems will arise.
Factor in that the Gunners are yet to score a single goal in 2022, and you can see why Aubameyang may be needed at some point – even if Mikel Arteta isn’t his biggest fan.
