Leeds United fancy Brandon Vazquez and FC Cincinnati have now rejected a $7million ($5.7million) offer for their talented striker.

It’s no surprise to see Leeds linked with more and more American talent.

Jesse Marsch in charge and American duo Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson have started their Leeds careers very well.

This goes beyond the pitch though as 49ers Enterprises have an increasing stake in Leeds United and are likely to take control soon.

We may therefore see that American influence increase further and Leeds have been linked with signing Major League Soccer talent.

One of the names mentioned is striker Vazquez with CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs reporting ahead of the summer window that Leeds have been tracking Vazquez.

The FC Cincinnati striker is allegedly on a longer-term list for Leeds and they will keep tabs on him moving forward – but they risk missing out.

Cincinnati reject bid for Leeds target Vazquez

Vazquez has been the source of a bid this week but not from Leeds.

Cincinnati general manager Chris Albright has told MLS Soccer that a bid – believed to be around $7million (£5.7million_ has been submitted by Chivas Guadalajara in Mexico.

Cincinnati have rejected that bid and outlined their intention to keep Vazquez for a while yet.

The 24-year-old is eligible to play for the USA or Mexico at international level and Chivas were keen to lure him south of the border.

As things stand, Vazquez is staying with Cincinnati but Leeds may be paying very close attention to this interest from Chivas.

Leeds do need another striker and Vazquez bagged 18 goals in 33 MLS games in 2022.

Hailed as ‘spectacular’ by FC Dallas star Paul Arriola, Vazquez is understandably attracting major interest now and Leeds will have to weigh up just how seriously they want him.
