Nadir Ciftci will return to Celtic, instead of turning his Motherwell loan into a permanent one.
Motherwell have confirmed on their official website that Celtic loanee Nadir Ciftci is set to return to Parkhead this summer after a disappointing second half to the season with The Well, but surely he will be off again soon?
The 26-year-old managed to score just three goals in 15 games during the second half of the season, after spending the first half down south with English League One side Plymouth Argyle.
Ciftci has managed just 26 Hoops appearances since joining the club back in January 2015, with his current Parkhead contract set to expire at the end of the 2018-19 season.
With The Well deciding against a permanent deal to land the Turkish star, surely he stands no chance of resurrecting his career at Celtic under Brendan Rodgers?
The likes of James Forrest and Scott Sinclair sit above Ciftci in the pecking order. With Charly Musonda and Patrick Roberts returning to Chelsea and Manchester City, the need for a new attacking winger is required.
But the likelihood of Rodgers handing Ciftci another chance in Celtic’s senior side is small after another disappointing campaign. Instead, Rodgers is likely to enter the market for new, attacking talent.
Ciftci should keep his bags packed as he returns to Celtic, with another move away from Parkhead this summer likely to materialise – whether that be a loan or indeed a permanent deal.
