It seems as though Aston Villa defender, Ezri Konsa, is training with a few familiar faces whilst donning an Everton shirt.
Middlesbrough striker, Chuba Akpom, posted a short clip on his Instagram story of the Villa defender, who was also alongside, Aaron Tshibola.
On Akpom’s IG story, Konsa is wearing Everton’s away kit from the 2020/21 season, with Alex Iwobi’s name on the back.
The duo must have swapped shirts when Everton visited Villa Park for a dreary goalless draw towards the back end of last season.
And whilst Konsa kicks a ball about in his downtime, many would feel that he was unlucky to miss out on an England spot for Euro 2020 this summer.
Villa kept 15 clean sheets last season, including against the Toffees, as the former Brentford man was the club’s standout defender.
But it was his defensive partner in crime, Tyrone Mings, who was the only one picked by Gareth Southgate from Villa’s backline.
Mings has proven, especially during the games against Croatia and Scotland, that it was the right call to select him because he was outstanding in both, after some doubted his selection.
Villa fans will be hoping he can continue that if he is given another shot during the knockout stages because the return of Harry Maguire might now see him set on the bench for the rest of the tournament.
Until then, it won’t be too long before Konsa is joining Mings at St George’s Park because it’s a matter of when he’ll get picked for England, not if.
