Huddersfield Town defender Christopher Schindler finds similarities between Leeds United and his former club 1860 Munich.

Huddersfield Town defender Christopher Schindler has compared Leeds United to his former club 1860 Munich, as quoted by The Daily Star.

Schindler, 27, joined Huddersfield from 1860 Munich in the summer of 2016 for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Star to be worth £1.8 million.

The Munich outfit are now in the Regionalliga Bayern, which is one of five Regionalligas in Germany and the fourth tier of the German football league system.

Die Lowen, though, have a rich history, having won the German league title back in 1966 and the European Cup Winners Cup in 1965.

Leeds are one of the biggest clubs in England, but the West Yorkshire outfit have not featured in the Premier League since 2004.

Now in the Championship, the Whites have won the league title in England as many as three times, the FA Cup once and finished runners-up in the European Cup in 1975.

Schindler, who was a key figure in Huddersfield getting promoted from the Championship to the Premier League at the end of last season, has compared his former club 1860 Munich to Leeds.

The Daily Star quotes Schindler as saying: “My former club was quite comparable to Leeds, with a big past, a lot of expectations. Those expectations that weren’t met in real life, so there was a lot of frustration as well.”
