Celtic new boy Christopher Jullien can’t wait to experience the famous atmosphere of Parkhead on European nights.

Neil Lennon’s side begin the long road to the Champions League group stages with a trip to FK Sarajevo on July 9 in a first-round qualifier.

Celtic, then under Brendan Rodgers, missed out on Europe’s elite competition last season after losing in the penultimate hurdle to AEK Athens, but the Hoops did rub shoulders with the continent’s finest in Rodgers’s first two seasons.

Parkhead, much like Anfield with Liverpool, is known as a special ground to play in on big Champions League or Europa League nights.

And Jullien, a £7 million signing by the club on Friday, revealed to The Scottish Sun that he has already heard so much about the ‘vibes’ that these occasions produce.

He said: “Last year Celtic came close [to reaching the group stags of the Champions League]. I really think we can do it this year.

“I want to bring something to the team and it would be the best if we could do it.

“I have heard so much about the Champions Leagues vibes here. It would be really exciting. The first qualifier is close.”

Lennon is the last manager to guide Celtic beyond the group stages of the competition.

Despite all of Rodgers’s domestic success – and he had a boat load – the Northern Irishman failed in his attempts to progress into the knockout phase, though it must be noted that they were paired with Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich in the 2017-18 campaign, and Barcelona and Manchester City the year before.
