It has been reported that Tottenham Hotspur are considering appointing Christophe Galtier as their next manager.

This comes from the Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick, who named the list of candidates, such as Julian Nagelsmann who could come in to replace Antonio Conte at N17.

One of the names is Christophe Galtier, who former Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho branded as the ‘coach of the year’ via Eurosport after leading Lille to a Ligue 1 title in 2021.

Tottenham considering Galtier as next manager

The Frenchman’s stock seems to have dropped amongst fans and pundits alike as Paris Saint-Germain crashed out of the Champions League in the Round of 16 this season.

While Galtier’s coaching methods as well as the transfer business executed by Luis Campos was widely lauded, it was familiar territory for the Parisians in Europe after Bayern Munich got the better of them over two legs.

However, a report has indicated that Tottenham Hotspur have shortlisted Christophe Galtier as one of the names that could take over the job as manager after Antonio Conte’s recent exit.

The Ligue 1-winning boss has been named alongside Julian Nagelsmann, Roberto De Zerbi, Luis Enrique, Ange Postecoglou and Roberto De Zerbi.

In our view: Tottenham should try bringing in Nagelsmann or Enrique instead

While Christophe Galtier is certainly a talented manager and could work wonders at Tottenham, the club can aim for bigger and better names.

Managers such as Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique instantly spring to mind, with the former being one of the best young tacticians in the world and the latter having shown his capabilities at both Barcelona and Spain.

With Newcastle United investing smartly and only at the starting point of their project alongside Brighton & Hove Albion as well, Spurs’ spot as a ‘Big Six’ club could be in real danger if their next managerial appointment is one to forget.
