Berra was not pleased with the way his former teammate Lafferty celebrated the win for Rangers against Hearts in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday afternoon.
Steven Gerrard’s side came from a goal down to get the better of Hearts 2-1 at the Tynecastle Stadium, with Connor Goldson and Alfredo Morelos finding the net for the Ibrox club.
Rangers ended the match with 10 men due to the dismissal of Scott Arfield in the 72nd minute.
Lafferty celebrated the Rangers win with the fans, and Hearts defender Berra was not impressed.
The 31-year-old Northern Ireland international joined Rangers from Scottish Premiership rivals Hearts in the summer of 2018 for a transfer fee reported by The Glasgow Evening Times to be worth £500,000.
Berra told The Daily Record regarding Lafferty: “Kyle is a great lad and I’ve no problem with him, but he’s got to remember what this club did for him.
“Don’t get me wrong, Rangers pay his wages. It was just heat of the moment, he was away celebrating and I thought he could have shown a bit of class. Remember it was these fans who got him that move. I was just angry at losing.”
Title challenge
The win against Hearts means that Rangers are now a point clear of bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
Celtic do have a game in hand, but it is clear that there is a genuine title race in the Scottish top flight.
