Leeds United will face Sheffield Wednesday at the Hillsborough Stadium in the Championship on Sunday.

Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen has suggested to The Yorkshire Evening Post that Matthew Pennington will play against Sheffield Wednesday this weekend.

The Whites will take on Wednesday away from home at the Hillsborough Stadium in the Championship on Sunday afternoon.

Liam Cooper is suspended, and Christiansen has suggested that Pennington will replace him at centre-back.

The Yorkshire Evening Post has also reported that the Leeds head coach has said Eunan O’Kane and Vurnon Anita are available for the match against Wednesday.

“I feel he will be a good replacement and do well in this game and then after that we will see,” Christiansen told The Yorkshire Evening Post about Pennington.

Pennington joined Leeds on a season-long loan deal from Everton in the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old centre-back is a very good, talented and promising young defender.

Wednesday are an attacking side and the Leeds defence will be under pressure, meaning that Pennington will have to be on top of his game.

Wednesday are 14th in the Championship table at the moment with 13 points from 10 matches.

Leeds are third in the league table at the moment with 20 points from 10 games, three points behind leaders Cardiff City and a point behind second-placed Sheffield United.
