Leeds United are expected to ramp up their transfer activity after appointing new manager Thomas Christiansen.

Christiansen was born in Denmark before moving to Spain to start his footballing career, and it is another Dane who he should consider swooping for as a priority.

Former Ajax wonderkid Viktor Fischer is considering his options at Middlesbrough after an ill-fated move to Teesside last summer.

Recruited by now current Leeds director of football Victor Orta, Fischer was largely left on the sidelines by former boss Aitor Karanka.

The Daily Record reported earlier this month that Fischer is open to a move, with Celtic among the clubs interested.

Christiansen began his career in Barcelona’s youth system, learning from the very same philosophy imparted by Johan Cruyff, which influenced Fischer’s early days at Ajax.

At Leeds he could find a coach which helps him rediscover his best form, and may be able to offer what Garry Monk can’t.

Fischer burst onto the scene as a teenager at Ajax and is still just 23. He is the type of young player with tremendous potential that would be an ideal acquisition for Leeds if Middlesbrough are happy to sell.

In playing alongside and learning from the excellent Pablo Hernandez, Fischer could be an ideal complement in attack for the Championship hopefuls. With Christiansen in charge, it might just be a perfect fit.
