Thomas Christiansen was criticised for being at Old Trafford
Leeds United manager Thomas Christiansen has taken to Twitter to defend himself amid criticism over a photo of himself at Old Trafford.
Sunday afternoon saw arguably the season’s biggest game so far take place at Old Trafford, as Manchester City made the short trip to take on Manchester United.
League leaders City had won 13 games in a row before their visit, and made that 14 in a row as Nicolas Otamendi swooped in the second half to give City a 2-1 win.
All eyes were on Old Trafford as the two heavyweights locked horns, and there was an interesting spectator in the crowd as Thomas Christiansen was in the stands.
The Leeds United boss made a trip to watch the Manchester derby, but when photos emerged of him outside Old Trafford, some Leeds fans weren’t too impressed.
Given the bitter rivalry between Leeds and Manchester United, one fan sent a photo of Christiansen to club owner Andrea Radrizzani, suggesting that he had somewhat crossed a line by visiting ‘the enemy’.
Radrizzani urged fans to relax, and even suggested that atmosphere at Old Trafford has even further inspired Christiansen to take Leeds back to the Premier League once and for all.
Christiansen himself then replied, revealing that his son wanted to watch Manchester City in action, whilst Christiansen’s relationship with former Barcelona teammate and City boss Pep Guardiola meant that he was happy to watch the game, before reaffirming his commitment to Leeds.
