Leeds United are set to sign Everton defender Matthew Pennington.
Leeds United boss Thomas Christiansen has confirmed to the Yorkshire Evening Post that Everton defender Matthew Pennington has joined the club on loan.
The Whites have been busy in the transfer market this summer, with Felix Wiedwald, Vurnon Anita, Mateusz Klich, Madger Gomes, Hadi Sacko, Samu Saiz, Ezgjan Alioski and Caleb Ekuban all arriving at Elland Road.

Signing number nine appears to be on the verge of completion too, with Everton defender Matthew Pennington set to be confirmed as a Leeds player today.
The 22-year-old defender, who has been on the books with Everton since the age of 11, has made nine first-team appearances for the Toffees and even scored against Liverpool back in April.
With Everton signing Michael Keane and Cuco Martina this summer, Pennington – who can play at right back and centre back – has been allowed to leave on loan, with Leeds swooping to land him.
Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen has now confirmed the move to the Yorkshire Evening Post, suggesting that he will start training with his new team-mates today.
“He will arrive at the hotel tonight,” said Christiansen on Tuesday. “From tomorrow morning he will be with the team,” he added.

The report does though add that Pennington is unlikely to feature for Leeds in Thursday’s friendly against Borussia Monchengladbach, but could play against Eibar in Leeds’ final game in Austria on Sunday.
Having seen Kyle Bartley return to Swansea at the end of his loan deal earlier this summer, Leeds now finally have another centre back to call upon in Pennington, and he will be hoping to make an immediate impression on Christiansen.
