The German defender has been a big hit since joining Arsenal this summer.
Former Tottenham Hotspur player Christian Ziege has told the club’s official website it is great for him to see Shkodran Mustafi doing well at Arsenal.
The defender joined the Gunners in the summer transfer window in a big-money move from Valencia.
At the time eyebrows were raised about the figure Arsene Wenger’s side had paid for his services.
He has quickly proven any doubters wrong, though, forming a solid defensive partnership alongside Laurent Koscielny.

Ziege worked with the 24-year-old at youth level and he has admitted it is great for him personally to see him doing well.
“Mustafi is a player I coached at youth level,” he told Tottenham’s official website.
“There were fantastic players like Mustafi, Antonio Rudiger, Moritz Leitner and Kevin Volland. It’s great to see them doing well.”
“They used to say about Mustafi that he was a little slow but he has improved, he’s always talking, helping his team-mates with their positioning, he reads the game, he’s intelligent and his passing out of defence is outstanding.”

Arsenal will now be hoping that Mustafi can continue to shine for the remainder of the season.
The Gunners have long been criticised for not signing a dominant centre-half in recent years but appear to have solved that issue with the capture of the German.
So far they have conceded just five league goals with him in the team and maintaining that impressive record for the remainder of the season will play a key part in their title hopes.
