Tottenham Hotspur hero Harry Kane is more ‘complete’ than Newcastle United legend and Premier League record-holder Alan Shearer, former Italy star Christian Vieri said in an Instagram Live session.
If Kane stays in north London for the foreseeable future – and that feels increasingly likely with Jose Mourinho turning English football’s nearly men into a bonafide winning machine – it feels only a matter of time before Spurs’ number ten is challenging for Shearer’s throne.
No player in Premier League history has scored more than Shearer’s 260 goals.
But after hitting his 150th with a dramatic late winner against West Brom on Sunday, in just 215 games no less, Kane is rapidly working his way up the leaderboard.
Remarkably enough, the Tottenham captain has produced more assists (8) than he has goals (7) in 2020/21.
Perhaps that creative streak is why Vieri believes Kane has more strings to his bow than arguably the most lethal finisher English football has seen since the advent of the Premier League in 1992.

“He is the only Englishman who is not English (in his playing style). He has technique and sees the game,” said former Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid superstar Vieri.
“They say that Shearer was the strongest English striker. I can agree – but Kane is the most complete.”
Only two players have reached that 150-goal milestone quicker than Kane. Shearer, unsurprisingly, is one of those with Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero the other.
But, while Kane looks more ruthless than ever in front of goal, he is developing the passing range of a world-class central midfielder too. Some of his inch-perfect assists for Heung Min-Son would have made Andrea Pirlo and Andres Iniesta blush.
