Aston Villa chief executive Christian Purslow should have shown Leeds United the issues with their transfer plan.

The Whites have seen the success that Aston Villa had this past campaign by bringing in quality players on a temporary basis from the Premier League, and they want to use a similar transfer strategy next year.
Villa have just earned promotion to the top flight through the play offs, with the likes of Tyrone Mings, Tammy Abraham and Axel Tuanzebe all impressing on loan spells with Dean Smith’s side.
Leeds now feel that they should adopt a similar transfer approach, to bring in quality while potentially keeping costs down.
But Purslow’s latest comments should show the flaws in such a system to Leeds.
“We’ve had a lot of players this year who we don’t own,” Purslow said. “They’re a lot more valuable now than when they joined us and if we try to buy them it’s like, ‘Well, you improved them so now pay more’.

“That’s a terrible business model and we’re not going to be doing that in the future.”
Purslow’s comments show the difficulty that Villa are having, as it is proving very tricky to arrange permanent deal for the trio now that promotion has been secured.
And Leeds need to heed the warning of the Villa chief executive, as their transfer plan may not be as smart as they hope.
