The Danish striker left Nottingham Forest after a disappointing spell at the City Ground yesterday.
Nottingham Forest’s Nicklas Bendtner
Nottingham Forest pulled off a shock move for Nicklas Bendtner in September last year with the hope the Danish striker might be able to live up to his hype finally and be a success at the City Ground.
He arrived after a troublesome spell at VfL Wolfsburg and early on showed signs of promise at the City Ground. However, he soon struggled with form and fitness yet again and his exit has appeared to be on the cards for some time.
He has joined Norwegian side Rosenborg on a three-year deal. The Trondheim side are building toward the start of their domestic season in April and needed to replace their star striker from last season.
Christian Gytkjaer scored 19 league goals for Rosenborg last season as the Norwegian giants won the title and that caught the eye of 2.Bundesliga side 1860 Munich.. The 26-year-old left to play at the Allianz Arena and Rosenborg have been searching for a replacement.
Nottingham Forest’s Nicklas Bendtner looks dejected
Bendtner appears to be the man for the job and his predecessor, also Danish, had this to say about his chances at Lerkendal Stadion, according to BT:
“It will be interesting to follow Nicklas Bendtner in Rosenborg. He has shown how good he can be, so it will be interesting to see if he can get back to it in Rosenborg.
“He’s going to a great club, a club which is good to bring out the best in each. It will be interesting to see.”
Bendtner managed just two goals in 17 games, so will have to do much better and keep himself fit if he is to emulate Gytkjaer’s excellent form for the club.
Nottingham Forest fans will watch with interest to see if he can get back on his feet in Norway.
