The Tottenham Hotspur favourite has signed a long-term deal until 2020 in the last few days.
Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen applauds fans after the game
Tottenham Hotspur star Christian Eriksen’s agent has been discussing the clubs that had shown an interest over the last year and a half, with the Dane’s contract negotiations with the North London outfit only recently concluded, in comments appearing in Danish publication BT.
Martin Schoots revealed that four Champions League clubs from “Spain, Italy, France and England” had made enquiries for the Spurs star, whose team earlier in the summer were pushing Spurs for a new £150,000-a-week deal, according to the Mirror.
“There has been some clubs which have come in, in the past 18 months, yes. At times I see reactions from fans on the internet, where they are surprised that they never read about other interested clubs,” he told BT.

“There has been definite interest from four Champions League teams from France, Spain, Italy and England. Two of them have played in a Champions League final not so long ago. One of the managers was Laurent Blanc, who even spoke openly about his interest some time ago.
“Christian is flattered by all the interest, but he never wanted to do anything with it. As I said, he’s just happy at Tottenham. And he has always wanted to be there for a long time.
If Schoots’ words are true, it suggests French moneybags Paris Saint-Germain, where Blanc was manager until recently, were definitely an interested party, while Juventus were another club closely linked to the 24-year-old by the Mirror, fitting in with Schoots statement that two recent Champions League finalists being among those tracking the former Ajax man.

With Spanish and German clubs, alongside Juve contesting the last four finals, the other interested club may well have been one of La Liga’s big three: Barcelona, Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid.
But thankfully for Spurs fans, Eriksen is very much committed to staying at White Hart Lane, having agreed a new improved deal that runs until 2020, and his agent indicates that is what the player wanted all along.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino has been a consistent supporter of the midfielder despite a limp beginning to the current Premier League season, but the Argentine and the Tottenham faithful in general should now look forward to seeing their man get back to his best with his future well and truly settled.
