Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen has tweeted about the fun he’s having with the club.

Tottenham Hotspur star Christian Eriksen joined the club five years ago today – and he took to Twitter earlier to comment on his time at the club.

Much of the focus today was on the Champions League group stage draw, as Spurs were matched up with Barcelona, Inter Milan and PSV Eindhoven in what is already being called the ‘Group of Death’.

However, today also marks five years since Tottenham snapped up Eriksen from Ajax, paying just £11.5million to lure the Dane away from Dutch giants Ajax (The Guardian).

2013 was a somewhat bleak summer for Spurs; Gareth Bale moved on to Real Madrid for a world-record fee, and the money was reinvested in players who didn’t exactly give Spurs a great deal.

Vlad Chiriches, Paulinho, Roberto Soldado and Etienne Capoue were major flops at White Hart Lane, and whilst Nacer Chadli and Erik Lamela somewhat contributed, the best signing was undoubtedly Eriksen.

The 26-year-old has now racked up nearly 250 appearances for Spurs whilst he has also bagged 56 goals for the club, becoming a fan favourite and a key part of Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Spurs commemorated five years of Eriksen by posting a video of his time at the club, and the playmaker responded by stating that time flies when you’re having fun, highlighting just how great his time with Spurs has been.

In the week that The Express reported interest in Eriksen’s signature from Paris Saint-Germain, his tweet has given fans major hope that he will stay with the club, as many tweeted him back begging him to sign a new contract and stay for five more years if he really is having so much fun with the club.
