Tottenham Hotspur star Christian Eriksen should learn from Arsenal’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s situation at Manchester United.
United are one of the biggest and wealthiest clubs in the club, but if the Red Devils do make a move for the Denmark international in the summer of 2018, then the 26-year-old should ignore it.
As long as Jose Mourinho is in charge of United, Eriksen, who joined Tottenham from Ajax in the summer of 2013 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £11.5 million, will not be the player he is now at Spurs at Old Trafford.
Mourinho is a conservative manager, and Eriksen is not going to have the freedom he has at Spurs at the moment.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan is one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe, but the 29-year-old struggled to even get into the United team during his short and bitter spell at Old Trafford.
True, the Armenia international, who can also operate as a winger, has yet to do much of note at Arsenal since his move to the Gunners in the January transfer window, but the former Borussia Dortmund will eventually come good playing under the attack-minded Arsene Wenger as he is given the freedom to play his natural game.
It could be quite tempting for Eriksen to switch to United and play at the Theatre of Dreams, but if he wants to enjoy his football, then he should ignore any potential approach from the Red Devils as long as Mourinho is the manager.
