Watford beat Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League yesterday.
Tottenham ace Christian Eriksen spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s bitterly disappointing 2-1 defeat away at Watford yesterday, and shared how much of a shock it was for him and his teammates to lose from a winning position for the first time in 43 outings, as quoted by the club’s official website.
Spurs had won their opening three Premier League outings before they played the Hornets yesterday, and looked like making it four wins out of four after they took the lead in the 53rd minute at Vicarage Road.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men were far from their best yesterday, though, and never really looked in control of the game.
Eriksen spoke to reporters after the match, and shared his surprise that Tottenham failed to go on and win the contest after taking the lead, as quoted by the club’s official website:
“It’s not something that often happens to us. That’s what everyone felt, everyone had the feeling that they were not going to score but they got a free-kick in a dangerous place, a decent cross and a good header. We need to get back on track and do that against Liverpool. That’s the perfect occasion to come back and we’ll do that.”
Spurs will play host to Liverpool after the two-week international break, and a win against Jürgen Klopp’s men would be the ideal tonic to their disappointing defeat against Watford yesterday.
