Tottenham ace Christian Eriksen addressed the media in the aftermath of his side’s 2-1 win away at Stoke City yesterday, and responded to questions asking him whether Harry Kane got the final touch on his goal-bound effort, as quoted by the club’s official website.
Spurs strengthened their hold on a top four finish with yesterday’s win, and they now sit 11 points clear of fifth placed Chelsea, although they have played a game more than Antonio Conte’s side.
The Lilywhites actually have a great chance of finishing inside the top two this season, and with Harry Kane back fit and available for selection, they will be really confident in their ability to do just that.
As well as the 24-year-old, Eriksen has been a real key player for Tottenham this season, and it still remains unclear as to which player actually scored Spurs’ second goal yesterday.
The Denmark international spoke to reporters after the game, and highlighted Kane’s celebration after the goal as something that proves he got the final touch, as quoted by Football.London:
“I think if Harry said he touched it then he touched it and it’s his goal. If you think about how he celebrated then he did feel he touched the ball.”
Kane currently trails Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah in the race for the Premier League’s Golden Boot, so it will be vitally important for the England international, and his chances of catching the Egyptian, for yesterday’s second goal to be awarded to him.
