Christian Eriksen’s agent has insisted that the Tottenham midfielder is only focussed on playing for Spurs.
Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen reacts
Christian Eriksen has enjoyed a phenomenal campaign for Tottenham Hotspur this season, and his impressive form may have caught the attention of La Liga giants, Barcelona.
The Mirror reported last month that the Catalan giants are eyeing up Eriksen as a playmaking option.
The report adds that Barcelona are looking to sign a creative playmaker who can provide ammunition for star forwards Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez, and find Eriksen as the perfect fit for the role.
Eriksen’s former Ajax coach, Frank de Boer, said last week (ESPN) that the Dane midfielder is good enough to play for the Spanish giants.
However, Eriksen’s agent, Martin Schoots, has quashed all transfer links, saying the 25-year-old is only thinking about playing for Tottenham.
Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen applauds fans as he is substituted
“I prefer not to comment on what the newspapers write about the future. The only thing Christian wants to do is focus on playing his matches,” Schoots told Danish newspaper BT.
“We let the rumours be rumoured, even now, when Christian’s merits as a player who sets up a goal are better than anyone else, and now he scores also very important goals.
“Christian just wants to be important for the team, it is the only thing that matters to him.”
Eriksen has scored eight goals and provided 12 assists this season, according to whoscored, for Spurs, and has played a key role in taking Tottenham to just four points behind Chelsea at the top of the Premier League.
The Danish star has signed a four year deal in September 2016, and earns around £75,000 per week, according to ESPN. He is one of the top earners at the club, and certainly there is no reason for him to leave Tottenham at the moment.
