Tottenham Hotspur are unbeaten in all competitions since December.
Spurs ace Christian Eriksen sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and offered an interesting explanation as to why his side always seem to come good around this time of year.
Since Mauricio Pochettino took over as manager of Tottenham in the summer of 2014, his side have consistently put together really strong runs of form from December through to March.
This season has been no different. The Lilywhites have not lost since their 4-1 defeat to Manchester City on December 16th, and they currently sit just four points adrift of second placed Manchester United in the Premier League table.
Eriksen spoke exclusively to the club’s official website, and responded when quizzed as to why Spurs historically come good in the spell immediately following the festive period:
“I heard something about that a few weeks ago. Someone asked ‘are you going to go on a run now?’ and apparently, we are! I don’t know what it is about this time of year but it’s probably all about how we train – we work hard, especially in pre-season and we really pick up this time of year. All I know is the team feels very confident and we’re going in the right direction.”
The Dane has been in fine form this season, chalking up nine goals and eight assists in 33 outings in all competitions thus far.
Next up for Tottenham is a trip to Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday, and nothing less than a win will do for Pochettino’s men, as they look to keep pace in the race for the Champions League places.
