Tottenham Hotspur star Christian Eriksen has been discussing the club’s upcoming crunch match against Liverpool this weekend, in comments appearing on the club’s website, and he touched on Jurgen Klopp’s impact on the Merseysiders.

In what is a tie between two of the most energetic and relentlessly pressing sides in the division, there will be plenty of supporters eager to see how both clubs fare in the Saturday afternoon tie at White Hart Lane.

And Eriksen admitted that the former Borussia Dortmund manager has been a charismatic addition to the Premier League.

“He’s brought a big charisma to the club,” the Dane told the Spurs website. “We saw that from the beginning.

“They have some incredible players in their team and even on a bad day they still manage to score goals so we need to be careful.

“For us, though, we need to win our games. Against Liverpool it will be a big match and a very exciting one.”

Eriksen will be hoping to get his season up and running in terms of performances after a couple of below-par matches for Tottenham so far.

Both Spurs and Liverpool are talked about as challengers to the oft-quoted favourites of Manchester United and Manchester City, and Eriksen, Pochettino and Klopp will all be conscious that a good result against a top-four rival will set them up nicely for the rest of the season.

On the surface of it it looks likes a fierce attack will be coming up against one of the best defences in the Premier League, with Klopp’s teams having already scored nine goals in their three games this season.

The North Londoners will be looking to build on their win over Crystal Palace at home last weekend, while Liverpool had a desperately disappointing loss to Burnley, though they were able to banish that result with a comprehensive 5-0 destruction of Burton Albion in the League Cup in midweek.

This fixture was Klopp’s first game in charge at the Reds last year, helping the club earn a 0-0 draw while Pochettino will surely be conscious that he is yet to beat Liverpool in the league with Spurs. The two teams drew 1-1 at Anfield in the Spring in the return game.
