Tottenham begin their European adventure this season away to Inter Milan on Tuesday.
Tottenham travel to Italian giants Inter Milan on Tuesday evening in their first group stage match of the Champions League.
Spurs will lock horns with Inter at the San Siro, while Barcelona face PSV Eindhoven in the other group fixture.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side go into the midweek game on the back of consecutive defeats to Liverpool and Watford in the Premier League.
The North London club will be desperate to respond in Europe, but will do so without first teamers Kieran Trippier and Toby Alderweireld after they were omitted from the squad for technical reasons.
Spurs playmaker Christian Eriksen, who is set to play a key role, believes that upcoming opponents Inter are strong opposition.
But he did claim they are still a team adapting after an overhaul in their squad and feels it takes time for new players to adjust.
“They’re a very strong team – they’ve bought a lot of players,” Eriksen said, as quoted by the club’s official website.
“They are mostly a new team so of course they need to get used to each other. But they have bought quality players and Inter has always historically been a big team.
“It will be fun to play against them, see how similar our standard is, and make our own history.”
Radja Nainggolan, Stefan de Vrij, Sime Vrsaljko and Keita Balde are just some of the star names that made the move to Inter during the summer.
They have had a difficult start to the new league season in Italy, picking up just four points from their opening four Serie A games.
An average start from a new-look Inter reflects Eriksen’s comments about their team, while on the flip side Spurs didn’t sign a single player in the summer window.
Pochettino has a well-knitted group there are all used to playing together and that experience could give them the edge over an Inter side that are still developing.
