Tottenham Hotspur were far too good for Swansea City in the FA Cup yesterday.
Tottenham ace Christian Eriksen addressed the media in the aftermath of his side’s comfortable 3-0 FA Cup win over Swansea City yesterday, and poked fun at his teammate Erik Lamela, after the Argentine scored a goal with his weaker right foot, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The 26-year-old winger has been nursed back to full fitness by Mauricio Pochettino this season, after spending 13 months on the sidelines with multiple injuries, and he has demonstrated how important he can be to Spurs when he has played this term.
Lamela joined the Lilywhites from Roma around the same time that Eriksen pitched up in north London, but the pair could not have experienced more different journeys.
The Denmark international has been at the heart of everything good that Tottenham have done, whilst the Argentina ace has struggled to impress the Spurs faithful.
Lamela seems to be getting back to somewhere near his best now, though, and Eriksen praised the winger’s contribution during yesterday’s win over Swansea, as quoted by the club’s official website:
“Coco’s (Lamela’s) goal really killed it off. It was with his right foot as well! He normally doesn’t use his right foot for anything but standing on. It caught the goalkeeper out. It was a very good goal.”
Tottenham still have a lot to play for this season, with the FA Cup and qualification for next term’s Champions League still up for grabs, and Lamela will surely have a huge role to play for his side, especially with Harry Kane set to spend a prolonged period of time on the sidelines.
