The Dane feels that the national set-up could learn a lot from his club Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen has been making the news in his native Denmark this week, after criticising the way the national team deal with players.

The Dane was speaking to Ekstra Bladet when he commented on the unprofessional nature of the methods at the international training camp.

He stated:

“The treatment of the players in the health sector is a little old school. The football has evolved and is also on the front has been modernized. It is today not just to lubricate a player in oil. There is a need for individual treatment of the players.

“In general, I miss a more professional approach to things when we are together in the national team camp.”

The statements have caused quite a stir in Denmark where the criticism from their star player has been reported consistently.

Of course, Eriksen will be used to the way things are done at Tottenham. Mauricio Pochettino has installed a very professional training regimen at Hotspur Way so he will be used to a higher standard of care then perhaps he feels he receives when away with the national team.

Tottenham Hotspur fans will of course be concerned to hear this news.

Eriksen is one of their key players and they will not want him to pick up any injuries whilst on international duty with his nation.

Hopefully Eriksen’s comments can help kick-start a change in the way the Danish team assess and treat their players when away on international duty.
