Tottenham Hotspur beat Juventus 2-0 at Wembley on Saturday.

Tottenham Hotspur rounded off their pre-season preparations on Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 win over Italian champions Juventus at Wembley Stadium.

Spurs had lost 3-0 to Manchester City last weekend in a disappointing performance in Tennessee, but they were back with a bang upon their return to London as they defeated Champions League finalists Juventus.

Harry Kane gave Spurs an early lead by finishing off a flowing counter attack, latching onto Kieran Trippier’s cross with a powerful downward header, which left Gianluigi Buffon with no chance.

Kane squandered two opportunities in quick succession before Moussa Sissoko – handed a rare chance to impress – rattled the woodwork after a strong run and strike.

Spurs did find the second goal after the break though, as Dele Alli fed Christian Eriksen in on goal, and the Dane rounded Buffon before sliding the ball into the empty net for 2-0.

Tottenham held out defensively to seal a 2-0 victory as the pre-season friendly petered out, and Mauricio Pochettino will now hope for a similar result against Newcastle United on the opening weekend of the Premier League season next week.

After the game, Sissoko took to Twitter to celebrate a ‘great game and fantastic result’, with the Frenchman admitting he was happy to have finally played his first game of pre-season after a frustrating summer.

Goalscorers Kane and Eriksen celebrated a superb end to pre-season, but immediately re-focused on next weekend’s trip to face Newcastle as the Premier League season draws ever closer.
