The Tottenham Hotspur star has been in fine form this season.
Tottenham star Christian Eriksen sat down for an exclusive interview with the Independent, and discussed the amount of freedom that he is afforded when playing.
The 26-year-old joined Spurs from Ajax in the summer of 2013, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £12.5 million, and he has since gone on to establish himself as one of the Premier League’s best players.
He has chalked up 51 goals and 66 assists in 216 appearances in all competitions for the Lilywhites, and is undoubtedly one of Mauricio Pochettino’s most important players.
Eriksen is a wonderful player to watch, and the manner in which he glides around the football pitch has a lot to do with the creative freedom that is given to him by his manager.
The Dane spoke exclusively to the Independent, and shared how he is given more license to roam than any other player at Tottenham:
“I think, when we have the ball, I am probably the guy who has the most freedom in the team to run around, and try to help wherever the spaces are.”
Despite Spurs’ recent disappointment at being dumped out of the Champions League, they are still in contention to win the FA Cup, and currently sit in third position in the Premier League table, just four points adrift of second place.
And if they are to enjoy a successful campaign this term, Eriksen will have to be at his very best between now and the end of the season, especially with Harry Kane set for a prolonged period on the sidelines.
