Crystal Palace striker reflects on his mixed season.
Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke has sent a message to supporters about the 2018/19 season.
Benteke had another slow season in front of goal, scoring only one time.
This goal came in April, in Palace’s impressive away victory over Arsenal. In the same game he also provided his only assist of the season.
Until he is told any different, Benteke is expecting to return to Palace next season.
He admits he had found the season a struggle, citing injuries as the main reason for holding him back.
Palace finished the season in a respectable 12th position, well clear of the relegation battle.
It is an ideal platform from which to build, but if they are to move forward, then Benteke is likely to find himself on the bench more often, with a new striker expected to be a transfer market priority this summer.
