The Eagles forward scored a winner deep into injury time to break Sunderland hearts.
Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke shoots at goal
Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke has given his thoughts on the club’s dramatic comeback win over Sunderland, in comments appearing on BBC Sport.
The Eagles came back from a 2-0 deficit to seal a spectacular 3-2 victory away to the Black Cats, with the Belgium international scoring the winning goal in the 94th minute.
It was Crystal Palace’s third successive Premier League win, and sees the South Londoners move up to seventh spot in the league.
“That is a massive win,” Benteke told BBC Sport afterwards. “We knew it wasn’t going to be easy here but we showed in the second half especially great character.

“As a striker you have to be patient – I knew a chance would come.
“We wanted to win this game, we are in good shape and hopefully we can keep it going.”

And Benteke proved his importance once again, powering in a header in added on time to complete an amazing win. The 25-year-old, who completed a club record move to Palace from Liverpool, scored the opener in the 2-1 win over Middlesbrough, and he once again helped the Eagles to three points to help justify his price tag.
Next up for Benteke and his teammates is a trip back to Liverpool to take on Everton, and the former Aston Villa star will be eager to make a big impression on his return to the city.
