Christian Atsu had two late chances for Newcastle United in their match at Goodison Park last night.

Atsu was handed a rare start for Rafael Benitez’s side against Everton, and he had two great opportunities in the closing stages to secure the three points for his side.
However, the Ghanian saw his two last minute efforts saved by Everton stopper Jordan Pickford, which meant the game resulted in a 1-1 draw.
The point was regarded as a credible result by Newcastle, but Atsu felt he could have done more.
“I’m very disappointed that I was not on the scoresheet today because I had the chances to score. I was prepared for this game and I wanted to score and stay with the team,” he said.
“I would have been very happy for this ball to be on my left foot, because I’m sure I could have scored if it was.”

If Atsu had scored his chances of staying in Newcastle’s team for the long-term would have been greatly increased.
Benitez may now consider bringing Ayoze Perez back into his starting line-up at the weekend though.
Newcastle are next in action on Sunday, when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at St. James’ Park.
