The winger joined the Magpies from Chelsea on a season-long loan deal on deadline day.
Everton loanee Christian Atsu arrives before the match
New Newcastle United winger Christian Atsu has explained to the Chronicle what qualities he will bring to Rafa Benitez’s side.
The winger was a deadline day signing for the Magpies as Benitez continued to add to his side right up until the transfer deadline.
He has arrived as something of a replacement for Moussa Sissoko, who completed a protracted exit from St James Park when he joined Tottenham Hotspur.
He will be something of an unknown quantity for many Newcastle fans given he has never played for current club Chelsea and barely featured during loan spells at Everton and Bournemouth.
And he has moved to remove some of that uncertainty by explaining what he will bring to his new side.
“I am quick and very good when I’m one on one, which is my strongest point. I can also create chances for the strikers and others to score,” he told the Chronicle.

Atsu will now be keen to get settled at St James Park and feature regularly for the Magpies this season.
Benitez has shown his desire to play with out and out wingers, even going as far as to use outcast Yoan Gouffran in their games so far to add something different to his side.
That gives Atsu a great chance of being a first team regular and he will be hoping that proves to be the case.
