It’s fair to say that some Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter are fairly underwhelmed by a new transfer report.
The Sun has reported that Spurs want to ‘exploit’ Wigan Athletic’s administration problems by signing two Latics this summer.
According to the English publication, Tottenham have already made an approach to sign duo Joe Gelhardt and Jensen Weir.
Gelhardt is an 18-year-old striker, while Weir, also 18, is a midfielder.
If a double deal happens then clearly it wouldn’t be the main transfer business that Tottenham do this summer.
But fans of the North London club aren’t all that enthused by the speculation nonetheless.
Timing is a really important aspect of how fans perceive transfer stories.
For instance, Jose Mourinho’s side lost 3-1 at Sheffield United in midweek and had they won by that scoreline then maybe, just maybe, the reaction to signing these two – who clearly wouldn’t be going straight into the first team – would be a little more positive.
