The pair could be reunited at Elland Road after previously playing together at Leicester City.
It has been reported this week that Leeds United are one of the teams interested in bringing in Middlesbrough striker David Nugent this winter.
The Northern Echo report that the striker is being considered by both Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday with former club Preston North End also keen.
Leeds are on the hunt for a new striker and Nugent might just fit the bill. If he did head to Elland Road he would be teaming up with a former team-mate in Leeds’ current striker Chris Wood.

The pair played together at Leicester City and the New Zealand international was a big fan of his more experienced strike partner.
Back in January 2013 the Kiwi striker explained just how impressed he was with Nugent in an interview with the Leicester Mercury:
“He is up there with the one of the best strikers I have played with.
“It is not just his ability but the way he commands me and talks to me. He shows me the ways to become a good striker.
“He has been in and around the game for years and knows everything about it. He just makes sure I am doing everything for the team and myself to be in the right positions.
“He is a quality striker and a quality man as well. He has the ability to change any game and, playing up top with him, has brought my game on another level.”
Middlesbrough’s David Nugent shouts
Those were glowing reviews from the Leeds star and he would clearly welcome the idea of playing with Nugent yet again, but in a different role.
At Leicester, Wood had to play second fiddle to the elder statesmen. If Nugent headed to Elland Road it is likely he would be the back-up to Wood.
But Wood could still learn a thing or two from the Boro frontman.
