Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers and Celtic are short prices to bring Joe Hart to the Scottish Premiership.

Joe Hart of Mancheater City shouts instructions during the Carabao Cup quarter final match between Arsenal and West Ham United at Emirates Stadium on December 19, 2017 in London, England.

Former Rangers goalkeeper Chris Woods has told The Glasgow Evening Times that he cannot shed any light on the possibility of Joe Hart joining the Gers or Celtic this summer.

Bizarrely, there is a chance of the 31-year-old joining either Rangers or Celtic before the transfer window shuts, according to betting odds.

Bookmakers Ladbrokes have priced the Hoops at 4/1 to sign the England keeper, while he is 5/1 to join up with former international colleague Steven Gerrard at Ibrox.

Woods, who spent five years on the blue half of the Old Firm divide and won eight major trophies, was Hart’s goalkeeping coach at West Ham United last season.

But the 58-year-old can’t offer any insight into what Hart’s next move will be.

He told The Glasgow Evening Times, when asked about the chance of an Old Firm switch: “I don’t know anything at all, no! The last time I spoke to Joe was the end of the season so I really don’t know what his intentions are.”

Leaving the betting odds aside for a moment, it seems extraordinarily unlikely that Hart will be joining Celtic or Rangers.

Steven Gerrard is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Not only does he earn a reported £175,000 per week at Manchester City according to The Sun, but the Gers have already signed Allan McGregor this summer, while Brendan Rodgers has Scott Bain and Craig Gordon as goalkeeping options.

There isn’t much urgency for either Scottish club to sign someone for that position, and therefore it’s unlikely to materialise.
