West Ham United and Sunderland are reportedly interested in Leeds United’s Chris Wood in the January transfer window.
According to a recent report on ESPN, Premier League duo West Ham United and Sunderland are interested in signing Chris Wood from Leeds United in the January transfer window.
Wood has been in brilliant form so far this season and has been scoring goals regularly for Leeds.
The New Zealand international striker has scored 14 goals and created 23 chances in 25 Championship appearances for the Whites so far this campaign.
West Ham need a striker to score regularly, while Sunderland could do with someone like Wood in order to escape the drop to the Championship at the end of the season.
While playing in the Premier League is tempting for any player, Wood should snub the chance to join the Hammers or the Black Cats.
While it would be unwise of Leeds to let go of such an important player, the 25-year-old striker should continue to play for the Whites in order to maintain his form.
Joining Sunderland would not be a great idea. David Moyes’s side could get relegated from the Premier League, and it would mean that Wood would be back in the Championship in a few months’ time.
Leeds are on the up and are genuine playoff contenders, and it does not make much sense for the striker to swap Elland Road for the Stadium of Light.
Moving to West Ham would perhaps be a step up, but Wood would be wise to resist the temptation of switching to the London club in the middle of the season.
If the former Leicester City striker sticks around at Leeds and continues to score goals for the rest of the season and the Whites do not get promoted, then he would get a lot of Premier League clubs showing interest in him.
Moreover, Wood has the chance to cement his place in the Leeds fans’ hearts if he plays a key role in the club’s promotion.
